The Green Homes Grant is a £2 billion scheme, launched by the government, to help homeowners pay for energy saving improvements for their homes by installing measures such as wall insulation, solar panels and air source heat pumps.
This is to improve the warmth of homes, cut energy bills and help the UK to be zero-carbon by 2050.
Local authorities in England can bid for funding to help homes in their area pay for energy efficiency measures through the Local Authority Delivery scheme. They can then select partners to deliver the home improvements grants on their behalf.
Initially, the Green Homes Grant scheme was split into two areas; one where eligible households can apply for free funding through their local authority, and a second part where customers who didn’t meet the eligibility criteria could receive a voucher to cover up to two-thirds of the cost of the improvements, however this part has recently been stopped.
Since the beginning of the scheme we have only worked in partnership with local authorities to provide free energy efficiency upgrades and have not dealt with the voucher element of the scheme.

The government grant for home improvements will make your household more energy efficient. The insulation measures not only keep the heat in so you don’t have to spend as much heating your home, but also help keep the cold out.
Low-carbon heating measures such as Air Source Heat Pumps and Solar PV both cost less to run than traditional methods and Smart Thermostats put the power in your hands by allowing you to keep an eye on your heating and control it from mobile devices.
