Voltt funds, owns and maintains the systems, so you can bring solar and battery storage to suitable homes without capital spend or new maintenance obligations. Residents pay less for the solar power they use, which helps with affordability, and your stock moves a step closer to its decarbonisation goals.

We do the groundwork first. Working from your stock list, we identify the properties likely to qualify before anything goes out to residents, so your team's time isn't spent on homes that won't go ahead.

You sign the Lease for each property and have one confirmation call with Voltt for the whole portfolio. Every resident signs their own Power Purchase Agreement and gets a personal call from Voltt, so nobody is signed up to something they don't understand.

For landlords

With Voltt, you can put solar and battery storage on your properties for nothing. Your tenants get a lower rate on the electricity it produces, and Voltt handles servicing and maintenance, so there's no extra upkeep for you. You sign the Lease as the owner, and your tenant signs the Power Purchase Agreement.

It can also help you get ahead of the 2030 EPC rules, which require every privately rented home in England and Wales to meet the new EPC C standard by 1 October 2030. Solar can raise a property's score under the current rating, and a home rated C or above on an EPC issued before 1 October 2029 counts as compliant until that certificate expires. Under the new standard, it counts towards smart readiness once the building fabric is up to standard. We'll give you an honest view of what it's likely to do for your EPC before you commit.

For homeowners

Cheaper power from your own roof, with nothing to pay upfront.

Buying solar panels and a battery outright can cost thousands of pounds. With Voltt, you don't pay a penny towards them. Instead, your household buys the clean electricity your roof produces, at up to 20% below the Ofgem price cap unit rate.

We take care of everything up to the day your system is switched on: checking your home, surveying it, designing the system and fitting it. From then on, Voltt maintains and monitors it for the life of the agreement. There's nothing for you to look after.

The process

1. Tell us about your property. We check it meets the basic requirements before booking anything, so nobody's time is wasted.
2. We survey your home. Our surveyor visits at a time that suits you and assesses your roof and electrics.
3. We design your system. A typical system is ten panels, a 5kW inverter and a 10kWh battery, designed to generate around 4,500kWh a year.
4. The design is approved. We submit the design for review and apply to your local electricity network operator on your behalf.
5. You sign, and Voltt calls you. Once approved, the owner and bill-payer sign their agreements. Voltt then calls to make sure you're comfortable with the key points, and your 14-day cooling-off period starts. Nothing is installed until this call is done.
6. We install your system. Our MCS-certified team fits everything, tidily and to standard.
7. Certification and handover. We complete MCS certification and the required registrations, then hand over to Voltt, who looks after your system from here. Our workmanship is covered by a five-year warranty, backed by a six-year insurance-backed guarantee.

How it works

Going solar usually starts with a big bill. This doesn't. Voltt pays for the system, we fit it, and Voltt looks after it for the next 25 years. All your household has to do is use the power.

It all fits together with two straightforward agreements, signed at the same time.

The Lease, for the property owner. This gives Voltt the right to install and run the system on your roof for 25 years. Because it's a long-term arrangement, a notice of the lease is registered with HM Land Registry.

The Power Purchase Agreement, for whoever pays the electricity bill. This is how your household buys the power your panels produce, at up to 20% below the Ofgem price cap unit rate. It works just like a normal energy tariff: the rate is fixed for the first 12 months, then reviewed each quarter and always kept below the cap. Every two years it renews on a fresh agreement.

Sunshine by day, stored for the evening. Your battery holds on to the power generated during the day, so you can keep using your own solar energy after the sun goes down. There's no standing charge on the solar electricity you use, and you stay with your current supplier for anything you still need from the grid.

Surplus power doesn't go to waste. Anything you don't use is exported to the grid, and you can claim Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) payments for it through your own supplier. 

Before you decide...

We think this is a great option for the right property. It's also a long-term commitment, so here's everything you should know before you say yes. No surprises later.

The system belongs to Voltt. That's what makes it free to install. Voltt owns the panels and battery for the full 25 years, and ownership only passes to you if you choose to buy the system out.

You save on the rate, not the whole bill. The more of your solar power you use, the more you save. Your usual supplier's standing charge still applies.

After the first year, the rate can move. It will always stay below the Ofgem price cap, but it isn't fixed for 25 years. Renewal rates are set at the time, as with any energy tariff.

Moving home? You have options. If you sell, the buyer can take over the agreement, or you can buy the system out, pay for it to be removed, or switch it to an export-only meter.

Leave the system to Voltt. Once the design is agreed, panel positions are fixed, and the system shouldn't be switched off, cleaned or altered. Just let your home insurer know it's there, and speak to Voltt before any roof work or meter change.

Every property is checked first. Each home needs a technical survey, a design review and approval from the local electricity network operator (DNO). That's why we'll never promise approval on your doorstep.
