The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) is a government-backed initiative designed to help households cut their energy bills with free home insulation. It offers upgrades to homeowners with poorly insulated homes that are expensive or difficult to heat.
You could receive support for:
- Loft insulation
- Cavity wall insulation
- Internal wall insulation
- External wall insulation
- Room-in-roof insulation
GBIS was designed to tackle fuel poverty, improve the energy efficiency of homes and reduce energy bills for qualifying households. If you’re eligible, you could benefit from home insulation upgrades at no cost to you.

GBIS is designed to help households with high energy bills, inefficient heating or low incomes. You could be eligible if:
- Someone in your home receives a means-tested benefit (like Universal Credit or Pension Credit)
- Your total household income is under £31,000 per year
- Someone living in the property has a qualifying health condition
- Your home has a low EPC rating (E, F or G — or D if it’s a solid wall property)
The scheme is open to homeowners and private tenants (with your landlord’s permission), but we will handle the application process for you.

To use the GBIS scheme, all you need to do is check your eligibility, and we’ll apply for funding and do the hard work for you.
- You check your eligibility for the GBIS scheme
- We organise a home visit to complete a survey
- We tell you what type of insulation your home needs
- We install your home insulation
Once your insulation has been installed, you’ll enjoy a warmer home and save up to £650 on your energy bills.
If you’re eligible for GBIS funding, you could reduce your energy bills by hundreds of pounds per year. Use our eligibility checker to see if you qualify in just 60 seconds - there’s no obligation to proceed and it’s completely FREE of charge.
