What is the ECO4 scheme?

ECO4 is the fourth phase of the UK government’s Energy Company Obligation (ECO)initiative. The scheme aims to improve energy efficiency and is designed to:

  • Reduce household energy bills 
  • Improve living conditions
  • Lower carbon emissions
  • Tackle fuel poverty across the UK

The scheme places a legal obligation on large energy suppliers to fund energy-saving home improvements for qualifying households. That means real upgrades, real savings, and real comfort, at no cost to you.

Who qualifies for ECO4?

ECO4 is designed to help households that are struggling with high energy costs, inefficient homes or low incomes. You could be eligible if:

Someone in your home receives a means-tested benefit (like Universal Credit or Pension Credit)

  • Your total household income is under £31,000 per year
  • Someone living in the property has a qualifying health condition
  • Your home has a low EPC rating (E, F or G — or D if it’s a solid wall property)

The scheme is open to homeowners and private tenants (with landlord permission). We’ll handle all checks and paperwork for you.

How long does the process take?

Once your eligibility is confirmed, we aim to complete your home survey and installation as quickly as possible, with installations often completed within 6-8 weeks.

 

Will I need to deal with paperwork or applications?

We'll make you aware of any paperwork we need from you during the process. This is mainly made up of evidence and ID documents, such as bank statements, utility bills and, if you own your home, proof of home ownership.
