Creating a better future for people living with PSP and CBD

As part of our 10 for 10 initiative, LMF Energy Services is supporting ten charities that reflect the causes our team cares about. Each one does vital work in its community, and each donation is our way of putting something back beyond the homes and buildings we retrofit.

This time, we're proud to have donated £1,000 to the PSP Association (PSPA), the only UK charity dedicated to supporting people affected by Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD). These are rare, progressive neurological conditions that most people will never have heard of, but for the families living with them, the impact is enormous.

We asked PSPA to share more about what they do and how donations like ours help. Here's what they told us:

“PSPA is the only UK charity dedicated to creating a better future for everyone affected by Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Corticobasal Degeneration, often known as PSP and CBD. These rare, neurological conditions can have a devastating impact on movement, speech, swallowing, cognition and independence, and they can place huge emotional and practical pressure on families and carers. PSPA exists to make sure no one affected by PSP or CBD has to face the future alone.

Through specialist information, support services, a national Helpline, support groups, practical resources, campaigning and research, PSPA helps people access the guidance, connection and understanding they need at every stage of their journey. By raising awareness and supporting PSPA, you can help more people recognise PSP and CBD, improve understanding among families and professionals, and ensure vital support reaches those who need it most.

PSP and CBD receive far less public attention than more widely known neurological conditions, which makes the work PSPA does, from its national Helpline to its support groups and research funding, all the more important. Awareness is often the first step towards someone getting the right support sooner.
