Inspiring the Next Generation of Electrical Engineers at Bury College

We recently had a great day at Bury College meeting with Electrical Engineering students and talking about what a career in the energy and retrofit sector can really look like.

The conversations were open, honest and genuinely engaging. We spoke in detail about apprenticeships, different career pathways within the industry, and the real opportunities available here in the North West. From entry-level roles through to senior positions, it was important for us to give a clear picture of how careers can develop over time, including realistic salary expectations and long-term progression.

For many students, understanding how classroom learning translates into real-world projects is a key factor in shaping their next steps. We shared insights into working on live energy and retrofit programmes, the skills employers are looking for, and how hands-on experience through an apprenticeship can fast-track both confidence and capability.

Events like this are always a reminder of how much talent is coming through. The enthusiasm, curiosity and ambition shown by the students was genuinely inspiring, and it is encouraging to see so much interest in building careers that contribute to a more sustainable energy future.

At LMF Energy, we are committed to supporting the next generation of engineers by providing structured apprenticeships, clear development pathways and opportunities to grow within a forward-thinking industry.
